That 5 speed should be a Borg-Warner T-56 tranny and will hold up to "sensible" driving, after all your not going to be able to really hook it up anyway without a lot of chi-ching. If your worried about it you can change out the input shaft for the larger one at a low cost(they make one just for that conversion) and it will bolt up with a tranny plate-also available in the conversion listings.Jim

hey man, can you give me more information about those kits and do i have to change the bell housing on the tranny to match up with the engine, i know that if it was a 4.3 i wouldnt have to change anything, but i got the 2.2 so i dont know, a website to the kits would be nice

I'm thinking Speedway has one, Summit, and Air Ride Tech. also.
Engine plates aren't hard to make- almost every modified racer out there uses one....your local speed shop should be able to help you get one.
You could also try Borg-Warner. I make my own so as for web sites I may not be much help. I use Summit for the extension parts (Pinion bearing). I think they have plates too.- Where are you located- if you can't find a kit I'll put you one togather.Last edited by hambiskit; 02-05-2006 at 07:16 AM.

You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
