    Close Ratio vs Wide Ratio

I was just wondering what is the technical difference is between a close ratio and a wide ratio transmission? Is the main difference between the two from 1st to 2nd gear or 2nd to 3rd...
    Thanks, Mark

In most wide-ratio fourspeeds, the first three gears are lower than the first three in a close-ratio.

    Close ratio Muncie: 2.20, 1.64, 1.28, 1.00
    Early wide ratio: 2.56, 1.91, 1.48, 1.00
    Late wide ratio: 2.52, 1.88, 1.46, 1.00

So the first three gears are a higher ratio but the ratios drop faster? Is that correct?
