    T5 Transmission question

Not really sure which area ot posts this, so I guess I'll put it here:

I just picked a nice world class 300 ftlb torque rated T5 out of 94 mustang 5.0. I planned to use this behind a 3rd gen camaro T5 bellhousing on a BBC. I am just now reading that the 94 and 95 mustang T5 trannies had a longer input shaft than normal. Anyone know the details on this and if I am going to have problems? and if there is a solution for me?

sorry i cant help with the shaft part, but if its rated at 300 ftlb, will that be good enough to slap behind a big block chevy? they have a high rating of torque from thier stock build alone. then if you beef the motor up a bit you could run into some serious reliability issues, just my 2 cents.

You are going to have to be very gentle with that trans behind a big block.... I gernaded two of them behind a Windsor stroker, not a lot of strength there. They make Tremec's rated all the way up to 600 ft. lbs. torque.... Far as the input shaft, there are some different ones. Try a google search for t-5 transmissions, should come up with a bunch of information on them...

Yeah, I aware of the torque issue. My motor is currently bone stock. I don't plan on dragging or anything, just want to get the car on the road for now. Down the road I will swap out this t5 for a "built" one or maybe a tremec TKO/3550...

The input shaft lengths are all over the place, I guess I will just have to cross my fingers. I got a great price on this T5, its one of the highest torque rated ones they made for mustangs, so if doesn't work, I am sure I could sell it with no problems and then go back to shopping around...
