hey guys I need some help. I have a 700 r4 and it seems like i blew first gear. the truck just starts off in second and drives normally after that (with a little rattle). can you help diagnose what happened? what should i do?

most likely the govenor is stuck round cover near back of trans remove gov. hold the gear and let the gov. hang down push the wheights in and out. the shaft inside should move. if it sticks remove the gear a roll pin holds it in place. after the gear is out remove the inner shaft.clean with brake clean or carb clean reinstall make sure it moves free. when istalling the gear make sure the hole for the roll pin lines up you may need to turn the gear 180 degrees. You may want to drop the pan if its full of metal its time for a rebuild
