    Need a cooler on a TH400?

    Hi all!

    I have a 350 with a TH400 in a '38 Ford Pickup. It's a cruiser only, no hauling or racing. Do I need a tranny cooler/radiator?

    Thanks, Dave M.

Yes. Either a tank built into the radiator or a separate cooler. Heat kills auto transmissions.

Absolutely! You have to have some method of cooling the tranny fluid or as Jack said, you will fry it!

    A good trans cooler,less than $70. A rebuilt 400, $500+ I don't think so!

Yes! I used a remote cooler due to space issues in my 29.

    Absolutely!!!!!

I put this one together for my 4,000 stall 55 Chevy Pro Street & it never goes over 180- ever. I have 2 B&M small plate coolers on the 32 & I will be replacing them & installing one of these for my 700r4 soon. As soon as I figure out where to put it. This one is a monster. On at 180, off at 150. Fan is 10" Spal and moves 900 cfm. I can get by with less on the 32.
    Hmmmmmmmmm
I could mount it out back & pick up an extra 20 mph

Skin effects radiator for trans cooling.

    120" of cooling area.

Used in conjunction with a Derale tubed trans pan, it works well.
