Any inf out there RE: TPI not TCI trans shop? I bought a 700 r4 trany from them in 2000 but never installed it. I want to use it now but they seem to be out of biz. Their web address led me to this site? old address is in griffith IN.Last edited by pablocusa; 07-11-2007 at 07:57 PM.

Re TCI trany
Well, 7 years is a long time for anything left sittin around. The way it came from them is the way it sat. no fluid, no nuthin. so I thought i'd give them a call for there opinion. It never dawned on me to ask another company for advice. I thought this would be the forum for that.

TPI went bankrupt. People were complaining that you couldn't store their transmissions for more than 6 years 11 months without them failing.

I think TPI went under twicetwice. It was sold back in '87 by TPI Enterprises, and the transmission company became TPI Performance. It was still alive in 2006, according to an article in Chevy Performance.
If you look at the net loss in 1987, you can see why the company had problems. No revenue, $11.9 MIL loss.
COMPANY REPORTS TPI Enterprises Inc (OTC) 1987
Revenue 158,299,000
Net loss 11,937,000Last edited by Henry Rifle; 07-13-2007 at 12:34 PM.

TPI had a lot of problems. Equipment failures, management failures, zero customer service, poor or non-existent repair service. You name it they had it. People's orders were shipped late or not at all. Parts failed and the company failed to respond to warranties and to customers. More than a few transmissions failed soon after installation. They got a lot of negative lip service from unhappy customers on a variety of forums and car webs, which I am sure did not help their situation.
The company may have had good intentions, but as they say "the road to hell is filled with good intentions".Bob

This is what you get when distracted. A duplicate response. How can they be deleted???Last edited by mopar34; 07-13-2007 at 01:48 PM.

Who knows? Until he installs, he is not going to know whether it is a good one or a bad one. If he has a problem with it maybe then someone here can assist with advice or instructions, or he can have a shop repair it along with a new warranty. But as long as it is in the wrapper sitting on the floor there is little any one can do or offer as advice. Another option would be to sell it and get another one from one of many very reputable transmissions shops with a new warranty.Bob

Gee, that must be some kind of record, a member for two days and I already pissed off denny and his trusty side kick mopar boy. I asked for "ANY" info on the company. I didn't twist squat! Yes, "There is help here" just not from denny and his lackies.
Thank you Mr. Rifle for kick starting a valid response. Peace

I think you misinterpreted what Denny said. He's one of the most knowledgeable members of this forum - and I don't see any reall issues with Moparjack.
There's a lot of kidding and subtle humor here. Take some time to get to know the guys and think for a minute before taking anything as an insult.Jack
