    transmission leak

     



    hey guys i have a tranny leak... kinda in a wierd place. it is leaking out of the slip yolk, from the breather hole on the middle. seal on the tranny is fine. took it back to where i got it installed and they said that it was a seal on the tail shaft, and they fixed it. still leaked. took it back again and they welded it closed.... still leaking help

    I have the same leak with the yoke on my 700R4, welded hole shut and
    it still leaves a 3 inch spot after a couple days with out driving it.
    TEAMWORK is essential, it allows you to blame someone else!

    Not sure about a TH400 but the 700R has an oring seal on the output shaft (not the lip seal in the tail housing) that has to be in place to prevent oil from migrating down to the splines. The o ring can easily be installed by taking the tail housing off (requiring a new tail housing gasket). Do a search on Google; you should be able to find an exploded view of the trans showing the seal.
