ford fmx tranny help?????
hi guys and gals its been a while so i know let me have it. but i got a ??? for you all. i come across a 75 t-bird with a 351w and i think a fmx tranny??? but not sure it has a detachable bell housing ??? so is this a fmx or c4??? and if it is a fmx will a stall converter from a c4 work in it?? any help and i would be grateful, oh and i promise to be more active alsoWomen are just like cars run'em hard and treat'em rough and they'll eventually leave you stranded

FMX is cast iron, C4 and C6 are aluminum. Converter won't work from one to 'tother.

Quite honestly, I've never seen a C-4 that wasn't detachable. The C-6's and the Mid 80's C-3 were cast one piece. Maybe later C-4's were one piece, but I've never had one.Duane S

They make a small block C6 that looks like what you are describing. It has a one piece housing.

I don't have a picture and it's been awhile since I've seen one. They were usually found behind V-6's that didn't have an AOD. I'll see if I can find a link.Duane S

Well, All I found out so far is there was a C-5 also for V-8's without OD. I didn't even know that one existed. Still can't find a link that has pictures.Duane S

Yep. And I seem to move 1 thing and it displaces something else with 1/2 of that landing on the workbench and then I forgot where I was going with this other thing and I'll see something else that...
