stuck fill plug
alright this one is being a major pita... its on an 89 nissan sentra... has a slow transmission leak, the fill plug is a 3/8 drive plug.... i've sprayed it with industrial grade penetrating oil, put a 3' breaker bar on it and even tried coercing the breaker bar with a nice deadblow mallet..... i've also tried freezing the plug to get it to shrink just a little bit but nothing seems to work..... cant get this thing to move, and if i can't get the fill plug out, i cant put fluid in it.... any suggestion that might help?just because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

it does have a vent tube at the top..... i guess i could try using that to fill her upjust because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

no luck, the vent tube wont allow fluid down it, it probably has a check valve of some sort inside... drain plug is stripped out very badly too so i cant remove that..... i guess its time to maybe source out a transmissionjust because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

Drill it out and retap the threads(if all else fails)

you would have to watch the heat but i use this .heat the plug then use wax on it i use a toilet wax seal for the wax or i drill it all most out and use a tooth pick type EZout use the biggest size EZ out for the plug .take your time and drill on the center of plug use a punch before you drill it outLast edited by pat mccarthy; 11-17-2007 at 04:50 PM.

nothin else up higher that can be removed to allow access. shift rod hole etc, if not and its crossthreaded that bad drill it out or carefully make another access hole on top beside the vent hole top it up and seal it with a self tapping scew

yeah, the transmission is pretty sealed up the shift rod hole is on the rear bottom of the transmission, and all other accesss points are also near the bottom.... i guess i could always ramp the car up at funny angles to drain and fill from the same spotjust because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day
