    Angry b&m trany

    a mate of mine bought a b&m trany pn#127045,for his nostalga rail,$3,436.66.
he informed them it was going in a rear eng rail alky 454 8/71,on alky.
trany arived, mmm its a shorty glide 1st mistake, should be a long output shaft,
    b&M mistake shiped wrong trans.
mm seans how were in australia what do you do.
so took it to a mate's house and asked if he could swap output planet and change to a std length shaft sure no problem .
    so removed pump,top gear drum,planet ect,std clutches, std rings, std,band ,
it keeps getting better,so he thought we would check reverse clutch mmmm, the reverse clutch set up was a shock for us as follows piston, 2steels, clutch ,clutchsteel clutch steel clutch steel and a standard cast pressure plate .the sorvo piston was jamed so hard in the bore,a pair if vise grips were needed to remove it
the mistakes by b&m keep getting better by the strip down of this fine $3000+ transmission, supposte to handle 1000+hp.so to cut a long story short and a $1000 later of good parts from sonax later a well built trans brake/ glide.from dave,so the motto is do not buy shit from overseas,as they do not care as you are 13000 miles away,
besides the fact that they built one shitfull transmission that we fail to see how it could have passed their dyno check,

Ive had a couple problems with B&M also, with 2 shifters. They were supposed to make good and send return authorizations. Been many months now and still no word. I will not call them back and waste my breath or time anymore. Its just easier to go on and not use their JUNK from now on. They are not the only shifter, tranny guys these days, lots of choices out there. I agree that over seas you are easy target with no chance of getting any help. If I cant get help from 300 miles away, your forgotten at 13,000.

Sounds like the "wonderful treatment" we got from TCI. What's with these transmission companies? Do they have so much business they don't have to please the customer?

What you do is check it thoroughly while the delivery guy is there, and if it ain't right you don't sign for it and send it right the F back with the driver.

Short of that you call BM and try to work it out. Only after that is all exhausted do you tear into it yourself.

That sucks though. And many will see this and NOT BUY FROM B$M in the future.

Way, way back, B&M was the way to go with the Hydramatic. It was a good transmission then. Now it's B&M/Hurst/McLeod. My recollection is that they were owned by another conglomerate (or several) like Holley or Mr Gasket, but.....and in my experience, when multiple ownerships happen, the product suffers. I've used their valve body shift kits in C6 transmissions successfully and shifters in the past but never one of their "factory built" transmissions.
