Temperature gauge
I want to put in a temperature gauge in my TH350 tranny and have heard different places to put it. I always thought it would go on the pan(side) out of the way of gears. Others tell me not to put it there but on top of pan out of the oil which doesn't make much sense to me.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

The side of the pan away from the filter is the best place imo...Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I would think a steel pan might transfer the heat fairly accurately if it were outside but an aluminum one would not....

I put mine in the hot line to the cooler right out of the trans. This tells you the hottest temp which is what you need to know ...............

You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
