    700r4 wiring???

i am planning on using a 700r4 out of a 85 camaro in my 55 chevy. my only concern is what does the square plug with 4 pins hook up to? how do i hook this up, and what does it control?

That is for the converter lockup, when you convert to an earlier vehicle you don't use all four pins you need a kit that goes from there to the brake pedal so the converter will disengage OD when you slow down.Go to www.transmissioncenter.com they have a real simple to install kit,if you need more info call their Tech line they are real helpful. Look for part# 12LU

Here's another link that I have found helpful.

In many cases, you don't need a rewire kit.

Camaro Mike, don't forget, you will also have to hook-up the T.V. cable (Throttle Valve) and adjust it properly or you will burn up the trans.

As mentioned above, the TV cable installation and adjustment is critical. Improperly done, the transmission will not shift correctly and you may destroy the transmission under certain conditions.

    Go to this web site:

    http://www.tvmadeez.com/

These people (Bowtie Overdrive) have a lot of experience in 700R4 swaps and they make several kits that address everything from the wiring to the TV cable. They’re very nice to talk with and patient beyond belief with what must seem to be easy or “dumb” questions.

    Have Fun,
    Glenn
