    200r4

If it's for your '80 Pickup,No your best bet would be a 87-91 700R4 from a pickup they are non-computer and have all the good factory upgrades, also your '80 has the long tail 350 trans which is the same length so you won't have to change driveshaft only drill a couple holes and move the trans crossmember back.

Here is a link to a great tech article on the 200r4 vs. 700r4.

So I guess U'r sayin they were no good behind 1 of the quickest G.M. production cars.
    GNX Turbo buick.
I've been using them for years and have never had a problem.
All depends on how they are built.
Call a tranny shop and ask them what keeps them in business.
    The answer: 700's

I agree! The shift points are a little more forgiving and can take a bunch of power. Also the fourth gear is a joy and you realy dont need a lockup converter.

Art Carr told me his 200-4r's are in cars with upwards of 1200 HP.

Depends on what you were setup to begin with...

Got this information from a post by Hellraiser79...

A TH350 short tail and a 2004 R are the same length from the bellhousing to the end of the shaft. So the driveshaft (27 spline) will work with either. The difference lies in the fact that the cross member for the 2004R needs to be back 6 5/8" further than it would be for a TH-350. A 700 R4 also uses a 27 spline driveshaft but it would need to be 3 inches shorter than one for a th350 or 2004R. The 700 R4 cross member needs to be 2 1/8" further back than it would be for a th350. Th200-4r also have a .67 to 1 overdrive ratio whereas a 700 R4 has .70 to 1. The 700 R4 has a 3.06 to 1 first gear compared to 2.74 for the 2004R.
