How to raise shift points.
Hello,
I have a 23 T-Bucket with a 350ci 350 turbo short shaft tranny. The tranny has a 3500 stall speed convertor in it. I am looking for some information on how to raise the shift points. It has a shift kit in it and snaps you back when it shifts the only problem is it shifts too soon. By the time I'm doing 20mph its already in drive. It has the adjustable modulator on it. It has a Magnum 270 cam. The cam is the reason it has the stall. I realize its a high stall but I couldnt pass up the price or the timing.. I did have a "stock" convertor in it but at red lights you had to put it in neutral or it would die. Anyways how can I raise the shift points....any help will be appreciated.

You need to mess with the weights and springs on the governor. There are calibration kits with instructions available. The issue is the light weight of your vehicle, this will 'fix' it. Its a very easy job, the governor is accessible from the outside (driver's side towards the rear) and the instructions give you a starting point.

Where can I pick one of these up. What are they called? I have been searching the net but not coming up with anything that matches.

The weight of you car is not the problem, my '68 El Camino is 3800# and it shifts into 3rd going thru a standard intersection also, with a th350 & stock converter, with a shift kit , and stock gears. It will shift later if you add weight to your governor weights, lighting them makes it shift quicker.

Anyone can cut one up, but! only some can put it back together looking cool!
Steel is real, anyone can get a glass one.

Or maybe a manual valve body and shift it at the RPM you want to shift it at......Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Look for the B&M governor kit #20248.You will lightening the weights and run softer springs to raise the shift points.
Follow the instructions with the kit, sometimes a little goes a long way. What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?
