    a 350 has no center suport and more mass then a power glide. so the power glide with all good parts is a better trans then a 350. i have seen 350 take power in heavy cars they fail in time .the 400 is all the way a better trans for a hard beating but takes more hp to run. the case is just a bit better then the 350 as well as it has a center suport less flex that why alot of guys still use the 400 trans for only400 hp in a ligth car the 350 is ok

    Hi Barb, also, just so you know, in drag racing, the rule of thumb between a 2-speed Powerglide and a box with more gears is that two gears will work ok up to a car weight of about 2800 lbs. If the weight is over that, the car would probably be faster with 3 or more gears.
