chevy 350 turbo started whining then in minutes was slipping?
Sup guys. Got in my car today and after driving about 10min. Heard a slight whining noise. With having these old cars my ears have gotten very sensitive to any little noise. But right after I heard the whine it started slipping I was only going about 40 at the time and then it got to where it didn't want change at all so I let the car coast until it was barely moving and then I had to get down on the gas and then it finally kicked in and got up enough speed to get it home. I checked the hoses and they are still on it. What do u guys think this is? I hope I don't need a new tranny.

Guys I went out this morning crunk it up and put it in rev. It wouldn't do nothing. Put it in D and it dropped in but still just rolled back. Could I just need a torque converter or is the tranny just gone? Please help me out guys.

Torque converter "could" be gone. A lot of things come to mind like filter plugged or fell off. Valve body loosened or leaking externally. Smart thing to do is pull the pan and inspect first, then go forward to determine what is going on.
If it looks like a science project in the pan, it's toast. If it's not bad with just a little "dusting", you MAY be able to save this thing. What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?

So if the converter is gone it would have no gears? And if theirs a lot of metal in the pan the tranny is probably gone
