electronic speedo
Hi friends, Im trying to put cable X electronic speedo converter in my '78 Chevy C-30 pick up, so I need an electronic speedo sensor for the gear drive, I need to know if there is an electronic sensor that fit in this tranny. I ask because this tranny was used in 88-91 trucks but I don't know if this fit or not

The easy way to solve the electronic speedo problem is to use an external pulse generator. The pulse generator attaches to a short speedo cable that is installed onto your transmission normally. The speedo cable then rotates the pulse generator to produce the output that your electronic speedo likes to see. For the folks that need a VSS because of their engine control computer, there are pulse generators made for specific output pulse rates. If you are only doing a speedo without a engine computer, the speedo typically doesnt care...since you calibrate the number of pulses to the measured distance.
Dakota Digital sells pulse generators....probably a bunch of other places do too. Ask the folks who made your speedo...they might have one.

You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
