help with trans cable, mabye.. 87 gta

i bought an 87 gta, today.. little lost on some stuff...

theres a cable unattached, furthest on the throttle body to the outside... it run to this black thing, hah i have no clue what it is.

its the black thing directly left of the washer bottle in the pic...

well also i found a black plug or harness or something that is burnt to hell, heres a pic.. its on the drivers side.

theres a 2nd cable unattached, its under the consol, middle cable thats supposed to connect to the shifter... remember its an auto...

the car was running pretty bad, bad exhaust leak an so fourth...

pics of my new ride hah

i thought i knew about chevy motors.. until i checked out one in a street car, lol egr stuff, vaccum lines and cables... plus tons of wiring lol

the car is remarkably solid underneith, i still cant find 1 spot of rust... not bad for $1500????

The one you're holding in your left hand in the pic goes to the A/C compressor.
What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?

Ditto the above - I'll bet your A/C and cruise control don't work just now. The car has some awesome potential. I've always like the lines on this body style. Get yourself a good manual - http://discountautorepairmanuals.com...tegory_Code=P1 and start with the little things.

    Good luck,

ha no im going to get some straight long tubes and run sidepipes, that and some E cutouts welded to the longtubes. plan on the car is basically this

its already taped up, the paint is awful so its getting some sleeper black spray can paint job(dont worry it wont look ghetto i paint it and then buff it all out, looks legit) then im going to get under it and get 100% of everything undercoated, make sure all the suspension is legit and functional, replace all fluids and start on the engine.

im shooting for 400whp, ovbiously not with stock internals but in the end, a nice n/a motor i can throw a procharger on and make some legit power.

If you pull the EGR stuff, expect some computer error codes to show up. I don't know if the chevy computer can be "tricked" like the 5.0 Mustang engines, by using resistors in the EGR plug, but it might be worth looking into.

Sure is a lot of crap under the hood on modern cars..sheesh Perhaps you can dispose of the AC, and cruise stuff, and clean things up a bit under there.

    Focus of this forum?

I think it covers all and any, makes, years and models, that car nuts have an interest in. Since there is such a broad range of subject matter, usually you can get help, and info on just about any project, issue, or modification, from some very friendly knowledgeable people. Some are better informed in some areas then others when it comes to certain things, while some are better in other areas.

Basically it's just a bunch of guys that love cars. Fixing, rodding, showing, or driving them.

    You should stick around.

i painted the TA, cause that red was just horrible, peeling and whatnot..

looks good, but it still had to dry... well it did, and then it rained today, looks fresh, i think.

The black color certainly makes the car look tougher/meaner, compared to the red!
