I think the title says it all. Can I use the stock Muncie shifter rods with a Hurst shifter.

Probably not - the top picture is a Hurst unit and the bottom is a Muncie (from a from 1967-68 Camaro). Is there a reason that you do not want to replace everything? That way you get all new bushings and know that adjustments will be correct for nice tight shifts.

If I remember right, the OEM shifter mounted to the crossmember or some such silly thing vs. the Hurst mounting directly to the transmission....Rods would be entirely different, the Hurst rods are a bunch more heavy duty!

If you only want it to look like you have a Hurst shifter, then cut your stock handle off just below where it comes out of the shifter boot and drill two holes and bolt a Hurst handle to it.

The tighter Hurst tower won't be much improvement if you keep the sloppy factory linkage.

A little hint, generally speaking, a buck saved on a shortcut today will, usually, end up costing you two bucks tomorrow.

I'm not bothered what the shifter looks like. I just want to be able to to shift gears and not get stuck between 3rd and 2nd. I'll most likely get a Hurst in May.
