Transmission suggestions please.
Hello all, 1st post. I just picked up a 1970 Ford F250 2wd crew cab and am pulling the stock motor and NP435 tranny out next week. I am dropping in a 327, +.040, that I am finishing up currently. I need tranny suggestions. This will be my daily driver, not lifted, not used for towing or any heavy hauling. I want good acceleration and no granny gear. Basically I don't want a truck tranny. This NP435 in it currently has a first gear something like 6.85:1. I have a Dodge cummins pick for all my heavy work. Any suggestions would be awesome.
Thanks,

I had a 1970 F250 back then---I bought a complete Lincoln Mk3 460 complete with c6 tran and a/c, p/s etc--it was the first 460 put in a pickup and I had to build mounts and exhaust plus shim rear trans mount up 1/4 inch
Many Ford engineers saw the truck at various drag races(towed Keeling & Clayton California Charger) and finally (1973) Ford made it as a option ---I then got factory engine/frame adapters and this lowered the engine enough that I could remove the trans shim-----could smoke the tires (373 gear) for blocks, got good mileage , lots of power--Ansen gave me me new 8 bolt by 16.5 mag wheels ( out the back door by Louie Senter himself) for it and Caroll Shelby furnished tires for it thru his Goodyear race shop.
