Ignition rod went out and i had to hot wire from walmart to get back home, turn car off in drive and cant get back into park, only reverse

It locks the column AND shifter in park. If the rod from the shifter to the column is off it won't line up the lock tangs and won't let you into park.

Open the hood and pull up the lever sticking out of the column (looks like a shift lever) and have someone slide the shifter into park.

Then fix (or replace) the rod going down to the trans.
