Are you sure it isn't a 350c??.That would make more sense for it to be a switch pitch 350 with three on the tree.

Haven't read too many good things about this company.
Hopefully, your TV cable is just out of adjustment.

Take the TV cable off the throttle ball by pulling fwd. Then move the throttle lever (bellcrank) full throttle. Pull the tv cable forward and see if it lines up with the ball on the bellcrank. If it does pull it more and see if it goes past the ball on the bellcrank. If it does not line up either short or too long, it needs adjustment. Guys will come on and say to hit the adjuster knob and all that but this is foolproof and takes less than a minute to do to see if you're close.

Oh yeah, when you pull it the first time, I've found it ''hard'' to get full pull and pulled it quite hard to get it. After that it moved in and out easily.

If you have an aftermarket tv cable, it could be hanging up. I've had that problem before also.

Do not drive it until this gets figured out. It can burn up in a hundred miles.

Hopefully you stopped driving immediately ehen you found it not shifting right.

As for lockup, that's a minor issue compared to not shifting right.

I'm sure he just has the automatic on the column and not on the floor. P R N D L1 L2. It will have the detents where the trans puts them

    Sure its common.

My 76 pickup can fit a 3 speed or 4 speed indicator in the same space. The shifter has no problem pulling into all the gears.

You from NB? Did you buy your transmission from TCI, cause then I would understand the tranny not shifting right, also, did a GM dealership do the installation? Cause then I would also understand why you are having problems...
I Had a wonderful experince, that has taught me lots about things I did not know about before. My solution, not that it really is one, was to take the Lock-Out right out of the tranny, so you will have maybe 200 rpm's extra in 4th, and what's a couple of hun RPM's anyway... My 700 R4 is connected to the column, I just went to Pick n' Pull and got the Shift Indicator that matched up with a 4 speed tranny, so my column now says PRND321 instead of the old one that said PRND21 that would have been the TH350 that used to be in the truck... anyway, have fun, hope you have worked out all your issues...

Our experience with TCI has been one of a quality product. Not to make a blanket statement, but more often than not the issues that people have are related to ma-installed parts/maladjusted TV cables.

I have a 700R4 in my 39 Pontiac. Have you wired it for the lockup? There are several ways ans a little research on web will show you how.I bought the Painless kit for mine and it works well. I get about 250-300 Rpm when it locks up.

Your shifting problems could be your TV cable adjustment. You need the carb bracket to mount the cable at the proper angle and the little arm and button for the carb linkage arm to get the correct arc and angle on the throttle. It's a bit of expense and time getting it all modified and set up but worth it in the end. Don't drive the car without the tv cable properly set up as you will destroy the trans in short order.

This thread was started some time ago, but it's worth chiming in to help the next guy.

If you upgrade to a 700R4 you'll have to wire in the lockup. I just installed the B&M lockup kit on my project, and am quite pleased with it. It allows for on-the-go adjustment of lockup RPM and allows manual override.

The trans will run without the lockup, but will run hotter and your gas mileage will suffer.

For those on a budget, I understand it can be wired with a simple toggle switch, but I would personally use a momentary contact button, a relay, and a brake switch, with indicator lamp.

I'm getting much more safety conscious in my old age. Last thing I need to be thinking about in an emergency situation is my torque converter.
    .
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.
