Transam Auto Tranny question
Hello all, can someone maybe tell me why my TA would jump outta 1st gear, and what purpose does the kickdown cable serve. My car was damaged in an engine fire years ago and I am rewiring most all electrical components.

If you have an 88 T/A, you will have a 700 R4 transmission. It can not jump out of first gear. You are low on oil!
The kick-down cable is crucial to the longevity of your transmission. It needs to be fully extended at full throttle, if not, kiss your tranny good-bye!Objects in my rear view mirror are a good thing unless,.... they have red and blue lights flashing.

You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
