When you get your factory service manual, you'll know what to do with that lever.

I expect that it will hook to your throttle linkage on the carb, to give the transmission a throttle position/load demand reference, but I'm not speaking from experience, only using what Ryan said about it being linked.

You'll have to hook it to the carb linkage or foot feed. Like Tech said, look in the manual. The correct cable adjustment needs to be done if not it can ruin that trans. Not enough throttle pressure and you can fry clutches etc, too much you could possibly crack a band or who knows.

I remember from years ago I built 2 cars with 4 sp hydro's the used they used solid steel rods from the carb to the trans and there was 1 lever and 1 bell crank and 2 adjusters the adjustment of the throttle valve is vary critical if you don't have the G.M. linkage you need to try and find some this may not be an easy task but there has to be somebody out there that has some it will not be easy to make this sys. work without it a cable won't work Get the word out on the web sites try olds. cad. pont. and chevy and gmc trucks used these trans. they made a gazillion of them. Ill put the word out to all the old grey beards I hang out with may come up with something keep us posted and good luck. P/S those transmissions are bullet proof when set up right.....ted
