Lokar shift indicator hot wire?
Hello Guys I hope you all have a great new year. I love this site. You guys have always helped me. And never made me feel like a moron. Even though I know I am.
Now onto my question.
On the Lokar brain module for the shift indicator. It says to hook the red wire up to RUN and START on the ignition switch. That being said should I put a Diode in between the jumper wire so power from RUN does not go Backwards to the START terminal?
Or is their another way of pulling this off. Thanks guys your the best.

My tranny is a TH350 which maybe different than yours, but on my module it connected to the ignition (not starter or ACC) only. It works perfect in mine..
Thanks Denny, exactly what I had too..Last edited by 36 sedan; 01-03-2016 at 12:11 PM.

From the diagram 36 sedan provided it doesn't appear that a diode is necessary. The only reason I could see to install a diode would be to eliminate voltage spikes and I think that is a very remote possibility.Ken Thomas

If the wire is to be connected to both start and run terminals, a diode would be necessary to prevent the starter from continuing to run. But I see no need to hook to the starter terminal, I think this maybe an error in the instructions.

Yeah I think you are right. I see no reason to connect them to starter side of ignition switch.
Thanks for the input.

I do know that Dakota Digital builds all of Lokars modules, you might check there instuctions as well. I have put about 4-5 in and never had to hook up a diode, but I used Dakotas instructions. Why is mine so big and yours so small, Chrysler FirePower

You nailed it Matt, googled Dakota's instructions and it says hook to fused 12v + on with start and run.
It's in the wording (a bit confusing), what they mean is, the 12volt positive source connection needs to come from ignition and is on when the starter is engaged (which most are). This just confirms they do not want it on an accessory terminal (accessories are off with starter engaged). This also prevents the indicators from lighting in the accessory switch position.Last edited by 36 sedan; 01-03-2016 at 05:48 PM. Reason: got scrambled?

I remember now.....there are only a few accessories on when the starter cranks, one being the distributor wire. Most others are dead while cranking allowing for full voltage to the starter, once it goes to run everything goes hot, I used the ignition feed its one of the few, I remembered after you wrote the above. Why is mine so big and yours so small, Chrysler FirePower

They also say as an OPTION in their directions. That you can put the EFI trans torq converter lockout wire. In the Nuetral terminal on this same decoder module. Has anyone done this?
