Just one small addition to what streets said (which should not affect what your doing). The 400 small block and 454 big block flywheels/flex plates are counterweighted as the engines are externally balanced. Use of one of these on an internally balanced engine or not using one on a 400 or 454 will set up a bad vibration problem. I just mention this because I still occasionally run into this on some cars.
