Overhead Consoles
I'm looking at alternatives for mounting a radio and a few switches and have noticed several overhead consoles in interior shots. Lynn (Rumrumm), your recent shot in the No Sew thread is one I recall. Anyone have any details on how you made the console, and how you attached it that you care to share? I'm dealing with a glass body, as a point of reference.Last edited by rspears; 10-25-2010 at 07:10 AM.

Roger - my stereo is in the trunk but operated from the drivers seat via an IR remote/repeater. It's currently out of the car and packed away - so can't even tell you the brand, but it uses my original JVC stereo's remote control and works very nicely.
Here's one write up (of many) on the web:

Unfortunately - but the one big advantage is that it declutters the pass. compartment and dash. I have an MP3 with more tunes then any station will ever play between their interminable commercials and my JVC has a port just for that gadget
But with that 347 purring, what else do you you need ? Maybe if you are out on a dark road with your favorite lady and .... nah,Dave W

My overhead console is from Valley Auto Accessories. I modified it by extending it so it fits the ceiling contour and sits back far enough so I don't have to lean forward to make changes. Now that make radios that allow you to hook up an ipod or a thumb drive. I think I am going to change out my radio for one of those next spring.
