My one car house shop is still a bit full of 1923 t-bucket,but have been finding and making a few more 1928 "A" roadster parts to be ready to go as soon as I have some of my own space back.

Thats way cool. I like the idea of the under seat thing.. Does the material for the seat just wrap around the wood and staple? Thanks for the photo,it really helps me alot. Keep Roddin!!!

Jim63,
Yes,the trick in that is the design of plywood seat and wood frame needs to alow for a little were you know your going to have some vinyl come around and be stapled,so that dose not make things fit bad,plan ahead is key,just think about what is going to be were and make room.
Note that there is a wood lip on bottom of seat plywood that when down,keeps it from sliding forword at all,so all stays in place.Last edited by The Bat; 07-17-2011 at 09:04 AM.

Nice interior job Bat! Any more pictures of the assembly/sewing process? I love the Amber Bock shifter! To bad it can't be also connected to a keg, to get a pint, everytime you shift into Park!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

Bat, thanks for the link. Very cool how you did that. Just trial and error, and lots of patience!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

Turned out pretty nice. Gives me the inspiration to do the seat in my rod. I've played around but wasn't sure I could pull it off. Not to minimize your talent, but if you did that with a home sewing machine, well maybe I can muddle thru with mine. I don't have to sew pleats either, I have already diamond pleated material. Thanks for the motivation, and job well done....

There is also a very interesting way of doing door panels on this site at;
Diy no sew upholstery thread
I just love out side the box ideas when they look good.
I added stuff about auto rugs to my tech post;

Padding the upper lip of cockpit will need to be done after all gets painted dark peril blue ,the plan is to have about 1/2in. high pad around top edge and then run inside about 1in.thick on inside down about 2in. plus were needed above back of seat ect. I worked out a way of fixing it to top lip;by putting pad cover vinyl under some 1/8in. thick alum strips that have countersunk screw holes that will have screws from there into cockpit top lip,that way I'm pulling vinyl up and around padding and down into cockpit,at that point will staple vinyl under wood that I have under lip and just above door panel.
I'll add photos as soon as I have any.

Good looking rug trim is best if there a way to make sq. corners,harder to get trim too go on round ones.

Well I finely did finish the rod's upper cockpit lip pad. This part was done with no sewing,but took some playing with before it looked right to me.
It can be done on most "T"s or "A"s the same way I think.
Last week when my son and I completed it we took it to our first big show,got best of show first place,we were very happy with that!
