Shelf life for thread
I have a few spools of thread that are a few years old and noticing they tend to break frequently so is there a shelf life on thread and is there anything that can be done to keep the thread in good shape since some colors are not used that much.

Many different variables affect how long thread lasts, including the quality of the thread, the thread’s exposure to the elements, the spool’s material, and the thread’s material. You may not be able to determine whether a spool is still good based on how old it is alone, but there are other ways to test whether the thread can still be used.

At work I started keeping the thread out of direct sun light but the thread I have at home had been when I worked at the other shop.
Yep. And I seem to move 1 thing and it displaces something else with 1/2 of that landing on the workbench and then I forgot where I was going with this other thing and I'll see something else that...
